INEC Extends Party Register Submission Deadline to 2026

Hon. Ugochinyere commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its decision to extend the deadline for the submission of party registers from April 21 to May 10, 2026.

This announcement was made in a statement on Thursday in Abuja by the INEC Chairman, Moham Kudu Haruna. Ugochinyere noted that this adjustment is a positive measure that reflects INEC's commitment to ensuring an inclusive and efficient electoral process.

He emphasized that the extension will provide political parties with adequate time to organize their membership records properly and ensure compliance with electoral regulations. Ugochinyere urged political parties to take advantage of the extended deadline to update and verify their membership data accurately.

He reaffirmed his confidence in INEC's ability to conduct elections in accordance with Nigerian law. He also commended the leadership of INEC, particularly Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan, for taking proactive steps to strengthen democracy and encourage full participation from political actors.
