Lagos Graduate Launches Real-Time Toilet Mapping Tech

Adetokunbo Ogunnoiki, a 24-year-old mathematics graduate from the University of Ibadan, has partnered with Lagos State to implement a real-time toilet finder platform to address the issue of open defecation. The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the partnership on Tuesday.

Ogunnoiki, alongside his startup partner Ademola Gbadero, developed a system that uses geo-mapping technology to help Lagosians locate clean and available public toilets in real-time. The platform features cleanliness ratings and estimated walking times to the nearest facilities.

Ogunnoiki's proposal was presented to top officials, including Dr. Olajide Babatunde and Dr.

Hassan Sanuth, who expressed their support for the initiative. The Lagos State government currently operates 1,710 public toilets and aims to enhance access and cleanliness through this technology.

Ogunnoiki emphasized that the challenge is not just about building toilets but also making them easily locatable.
