Akinoso Elected PDP Chairman in Oyo State Congress

Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso has emerged as the chairman of a faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike. His election occurred during a party congress held on Saturday at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium in Ibadan, where he was elected alongside 38 executive members.

Dr. Abiola Olaonipekun was elected as the secretary, while Alhaja Latifah Latifu was appointed as the women leader, and Mr. Adelek was elected as the youth leader. The congress was attended by representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), police, and security agencies, with prominent party members supervising the electoral committee.

In his inaugural address, Akinoso urged party members to set aside intra-party differences and focus on promoting the party's resources. He emphasized the importance of ensuring harmony among members and preparing for the upcoming general elections, with the INEC expected to release the 2027 general election timetable soon.
