Ujiri Urges Nigeria to Prioritize Sports Infrastructure

Masai Ujiri, co-founder of Giant Africa and former player for the Nigerian national basketball team, called on various levels of government in Nigeria to focus on maintaining public facilities rather than constructing new ones. He spoke during the milestone launch of the 50th basketball court built by Giant Africa at King's College, Lagos, which is part of an initiative to empower young African basketball players.

Ujiri noted that while the school has historical significance, its basketball facilities are outdated and require urgent modernization. He highlighted the importance of maintaining national sports facilities, citing the neglect of the National Stadium in Lagos, which has not hosted events for ten years.

Ujiri emphasized that Nigeria, as the largest country in Africa, should demonstrate leadership in sports infrastructure, which is crucial for the development of youth and the promotion of sports as a significant business sector.
