UK-Based Nigerian Father Kayod Ogunboded Dies in Sleep

Kayod Ogunboded, popularly known as Kai, died unexpectedly in his sleep on May 26, 2026, in Swansea, United Kingdom. He is survived by his wife, a student, and two daughters aged six years and six months.

Olatund Owoey Phoster described Ogunboded's death as sudden and devastating for the family. Ogunboded was well-known within the Nigerian and African community in the UK and was an active member of Elim City Church Swansea and the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

A fundraising appeal has been launched to support the bereaved family with funeral expenses and childcare bills, as his wife is not currently working. The appeal aims to raise £18,000, and as of the time of the report, approximately £480 had been collected.

The community has been urged to support the family during this difficult time, reflecting a growing trend of public fundraising efforts to assist bereaved families within the Nigerian community in the UK.
