Nigerian Gift Oladel Indicted for Rape in Wrexham

Gift Oladel, a 24-year-old Nigerian residing in the UK, was indicted for the rape of a 19-year-old woman, with the incident occurring in September 2025 near Wrexham. Oladel allegedly dragged the victim into the woods while she was walking home at night, resulting in a violent rape.

He pleaded guilty and is scheduled for sentencing in April. Reports indicate that Oladel has a criminal history, having previously served a two-year sentence for falsely imprisoning a woman in Manchester in 2022.

Following his jail term, the UK Home Office ordered his deportation to Nigeria, but he successfully appealed this order, citing his right to family and private life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights. Despite being labeled a dangerous offender, Oladel managed to block his deportation earlier in 2023.
