UK-based Nigerian Remanded After Taiwo Ekerin's Death

Chibuez Chukwurah, a 34-year-old Nigerian based in the UK, has been remanded in custody following the death of compatriot Taiwo Ekerin, who was pronounced dead on May 30 after sustaining injuries from an unprovoked assault on May 24. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident occurred on Lewisham High Street in London at approximately 4:40 PM.

Maxwell Oguanaya, a 32-year-old, has also been charged with murder in connection to the assault. Chukwurah was arrested on June 5 and charged on June 7, appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court on June 8.

He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on June 10. Kehind Ekerin, Taiwo's brother, confirmed the tragic loss, describing the profound sadness and heartbreak experienced by the family.

The family has initiated a GoFundMe appeal to cover funeral expenses, highlighting the emotional void left by Taiwo's untimely death.
