Nigerian Teen Sentenced to Life for Murder in UK

On February 10, 2023, Jackson Uwagbo, a 19-year-old from Hamilton Street, Lewisham, was found guilty of murdering 21-year-old Robert Robinson during a dispute over a stolen bicycle. The incident occurred while Robinson was already on the ground, having sustained previous wounds from a group of men armed with knives.

Uwagbo's sentencing was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday, where the court ruled that he must serve a minimum of 21 years before being considered for parole. Additionally, Uwagbo's co-defendant, aged 24, was previously convicted and sentenced to life for the same murder.

The investigation, led by a detective inspector, welcomed the verdict, stating it brings justice to Robinson's family. Uwagbo had attempted to flee to Nigeria via Heathrow Airport before his arrest.
