UK Returnee Dies in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

On March 23, 2023, at approximately 6 PM, a fatal road traffic accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, involving a white Toyota Camry. The vehicle, carrying a UK returnee and two others, collided with a moving truck.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Enforcement Agency, reported that the driver of the Camry was speeding at the time of the incident. The crash resulted in the death of the female UK returnee, while the two other occupants, one male and one female, sustained injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two females had just returned from the United Kingdom to attend a wedding ceremony in Abeokuta. The deceased's body was deposited at the Redeem Hospital morgue, while the injured were taken for treatment.

Akinbiyi urged drivers to avoid excessive speed to prevent such tragic accidents.
