UK Home Office Enforces Stricter Measures on Illegal Work

The UK Home Office declared a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal working, announcing on Tuesday that it will intensify enforcement actions against unauthorized employment. This initiative includes the introduction of stricter workplace compliance measures aimed at deterring the hiring of individuals without legal permission to work.

The enforcement actions will involve site inspections and verification checks of business premises. Companies that fail to comply with these regulations will face unlimited fines.

This announcement comes amid increasing political pressure on the government to demonstrate tougher immigration controls, addressing concerns about illegal employment across various sectors. Recent official estimates indicate that the UK has approximately 10 to 11 million foreign-born residents, constituting 17 percent of the population, with a smaller number working without authorization.
