Nigeria to Receive Digital UK Visas Starting February 2026

Effective February 25, 2026, Nigerian travelers applying for UK visit visas will receive electronic visas (eVisas) instead of traditional vignette stickers in their passports. This transition, announced by the UK High Commission in Abuja, marks a significant modernization of the UK visa process for Nigerian applicants.

While the application process remains unchanged, including the requirement to attend visa application centers for biometric information, the new eVisa will provide a secure digital record of immigration status. Current holders of valid vignette stickers do not need to take any action, as their visas will remain valid until expiration.

Mr. Gill Lever, Deputy High Commissioner in Abuja, emphasized that this digital shift will streamline the visa process, enhance security, and reduce reliance on paper documentation.

Applicants will need to create a free UKVI account to access their eVisas once approved, facilitating quicker travel management and improved immigration status tracking.
