Osborn Umahi Sworn In as Ohaozara Council Chairman

Osborn Umahi, the 28-year-old son of David Umahi, the Minister of Works, was sworn in as the chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area in Ebonyi State on August 22, 2026, following his victory in the local government elections. The swearing-in ceremony took place on a Tuesday and was officiated by Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, with attendance from various political leaders and dignitaries, including his father.

Osborn Umahi pledged to forgo his salary and allowances throughout his tenure, emphasizing his commitment to serving the community rather than seeking financial gain from public office. He aims to focus on infrastructure development, youth empowerment, support for local businesses, and improving basic service delivery in Ohaozara.

His election was part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning all 13 contested chairmanship positions in the state. Osborn holds a degree in civil engineering from the University of Surrey and a master’s degree in finance and investment management from the University of Aberdeen.
