Nwifuru Threatens to Remove Non-Compliant Council Chairmen

On Tuesday, during the swearing-in ceremony of 13 newly elected council chairmen and vice chairmen at the Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State issued a stern warning to the new local government chairmen. He stated that any chairman who fails to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections would be removed from office.

Nwifuru emphasized the political obligation tied to their positions and instructed them to commence grassroots mobilization immediately. He expressed confidence in achieving a 100 percent victory for the APC across Ebonyi State.

Additionally, he addressed the vice chairmen, urging loyalty to their chairmen and likening their role to that of a "spare tyre." Financial gifts were announced, with each chairman receiving One Million Naira (N1 million) and each vice chairman receiving Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N300,000), funded by Gem Brass Construction. Nwifuru concluded by reminding the chairmen of their oath to serve the people and uphold the Constitution.
