UN and Nigeria Push for Innovative Financing for SDGs

The United Nations and the Federal Government of Nigeria are seeking innovative financing solutions to expedite the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) before the 2030 deadline. This call was made during a joint meeting held at the UN House in Abuja, led by Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu.

He noted that with only a few years left to attain the SDGs, there is an urgent need for the government and development partners to move beyond planning to implementation, including mobilizing private capital to bridge the financing gap. Moha Fall, the UN Resident Coordinator in Nigeria, warned that progress towards the SDGs is slow, with many goals at risk of not being met.

Dori Uzoka Anit urged stakeholders to prioritize financing development programs and support Nigeria in mobilizing innovative financing.
