UN Applauds NYSC for Advancing Youth Health Initiatives

The United Nations, represented by Felip Paullier, praised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for its contributions to youth development during the flag-off of the NYSC health initiative for rural dwellers, held in Kabusa, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. This initiative, launched in 2014, aims to provide free medical services to five million Nigerians, with an expectation to reach 45,000 people annually across rural communities.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the Director General of NYSC, highlighted that the initiative supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 3, which focuses on good health. The program aims to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare on vulnerable households and promote healthier lifestyles.

Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria's first female senator, also acknowledged the NYSC's healthcare initiative as a vital contribution to sustainable development. Community leader Samuel Kpowu commended the scheme for bringing essential medical services to the area, marking it as a first-of-its-kind outreach.
