LASUED's Dr. Adeyemi Advocates Self-Awareness for Youth

Dr. Shade Adeyemi, a counselling and mental health professional and senior lecturer at the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) in Epe, urged young people to cultivate self-awareness before making significant career decisions. During a live conversation on Thursday, themed ‘Purpose, Career and Making Wise Decisions,’ she shared insights on purpose discovery and navigating life choices.

Adeyemi stressed that understanding one's strengths, weaknesses, values, and limitations is crucial for aligning career choices with personal goals. She stated, “Young people need to take time to understand who they are and what they value rather than making career or life choices based solely on external expectations.” The session aimed to help participants grasp the connection between purpose, career development, and decision-making, providing practical guidance for navigating uncertainties in life.

Adeyemi encouraged continuous self-awareness and intentional decision-making to build a meaningful future, concluding with the advice, “Know yourself. Make wise decisions.
