University of Abuja to Graduate 12,624 Amid Land Issues

The University of Abuja, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, is preparing to graduate a total of 12,624 students during its combined convocation ceremonies for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic sessions. The ceremonies will take place on the 29th and 30th of the month.

Fawehinmi expressed serious concerns regarding persistent land encroachment, describing it as a major threat to the university's long-term development plans. He noted that the university's 11,000 hectares of land are crucial for future growth, including the establishment of new faculties and research zones.

The graduating class for 2022/2023 includes 7,158 students, with 48 achieving first-class degrees, while the 2023/2024 cohort comprises 5,466 students, including 29 first-class graduates. The convocation will also feature various activities throughout the week, including lectures and exhibitions, and will honor distinguished Nigerians with honorary degrees.
