The management of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has dismissed allegations that the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, is attempting to influence the appointment of a staff member to a senior management position.

The university described these claims, published by an online platform on July 28, 2026, as false and lacking factual foundation. In a statement from the Acting Director of Information and University Relations, Dr.

Habib Yakoob, UniAbuja reaffirmed its autonomy and commitment to due process in recruitment. The university stated that appointments are governed by established procedures and statutory requirements, rejecting any suggestion of external influence.

It urged the public to ignore what it termed baseless claims aimed at damaging the minister's reputation and commended Dr. Alausa's contributions to the education sector.
