University of Abuja Expels 28 Students for Misconduct

The University of Abuja has expelled 28 students due to various disciplinary offences, including threats to life, assault, examination malpractice, conspiracy, burglary, theft, cult-related activities, possession of hard drugs, and falsification of O-level results. This decision was made during the 191st regular Senate meeting held on January 29.

The Senate considered reports from the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC) regarding these offences. Furthermore, the Senate approved the withdrawal of certificates from 15 former students who failed to honor invitations from the disciplinary committee despite receiving several notices.

Nine students were exonerated following investigations, while 33 others received warnings for various infractions, including conspiracy and hostel racketeering. The Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, emphasized the university's commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment and the importance of academic integrity, urging students to conduct themselves responsibly to avoid jeopardizing their academic pursuits.
