UniAbuja Matriculates 8,000 New Students, Warns Against Cultism and Drug Abuse

The University of Abuja matriculated 8,000 new students for the 2025-2026 academic session, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi warning against cultism, drug abuse, and anti-social conduct during the ceremony held at the institution's main campus. Despite receiving 30,000 applications, the university faced capacity constraints and could only admit a fraction of the candidates.

Fawehinmi stressed the institution's commitment to maintaining quality education and admitted students across faculties from a highly competitive pool. The Vice-Chancellor outlined steps taken to improve infrastructure, student welfare, and partnerships to enhance the academic environment.

He assured parents of prioritizing student safety and emphasized zero tolerance for indiscipline. The new students expressed enthusiasm for their academic pursuits and pledged to excel during their time at the university.
