University of Abuja Expels 28 Students for Misconduct

The University of Abuja has expelled 28 students due to various serious disciplinary offenses, including examination malpractice, drug possession, assault, conspiracy, burglary, theft, and falsification of O-level results. This decision was reached during the university's 191st regular Senate meeting, where members reviewed a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee.

The statement issued on Sunday by the Director, Dr. Habib Yakoob, confirmed the Senate's approval of the expulsions.

Additionally, 15 former students had their certificates withdrawn for failing to honor a repeat invitation from the disciplinary committee. Nine students were cleared of wrongdoing, while 33 others received warnings for various offenses, including involvement in hostel rackets and fighting.

The Vice Chancellor and Senate Chairman, Prof. Hakeem Fawehinmi, reiterated the university's commitment to upholding academic integrity and ensuring a safe learning environment, stating that any violations would result in appropriate sanctions.
