UNICEF Enhances Health Services in Adamawa State

UNICEF, in collaboration with DGI Consult, has initiated a project to enhance reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH+N) services in Adamawa State. The project commenced with a three-day training workshop, marking the first phase of a capacity strengthening plan developed following a baseline assessment that identified critical gaps in leadership and management affecting health outcomes.

The initiative, which also involves the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), is funded by the European Union and aims to improve access to quality RMNCAH+N services and gender-based violence (GBV) programs across Adamawa, Kwara, and Sokoto states. The workshop gathered senior government officials, program managers, local government representatives, and health institute heads to enhance institutional leadership and improve program implementation.

Dr. Emmanuel Emedo, a UNICEF health system specialist, emphasized that effective leadership is crucial for determining health system performance, as technical expertise alone is insufficient for improving health outcomes.
