UniJos ASUU Declares Indefinite Strike Over Salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Jos (UniJos) has declared an indefinite strike starting April 8, 2026. This decision was announced by the branch chairperson, Prof.

Jurb Joseph Molwu, who cited the failure to pay salaries for March 2026 as the primary reason for the strike. Members have been instructed to abstain from lectures and examinations until their salaries are paid.

Prof. Molwu explained that the delay in salary payments is linked to issues with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, which affects the disbursement of bursaries necessary for completing the salary payment process.

He emphasized the need for members to comply with the strike directives and warned that the ongoing situation undermines industrial harmony. The union's patience has been tested, and immediate action has been deemed necessary to address the salary payment delays.
