UNIPORT Appoints Professor Princewill R. Chike as VC

The University of Port Harcourt has officially appointed Professor Princewill R. Chike as the 10th Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

This decision was made by the university's governing council and follows a rigorous selection process that adhered to the provisions of the University of Port Harcourt Act. Professor Chike will succeed Professor Owunari Georgewill, whose tenure will conclude on July 13, 2026.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the university's public relations office, signed by Dr. Sam Kpenu. Mao Ohuabunwa, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, congratulated Professor Chike on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to provide visionary leadership for the continued growth and development of the university.

Professor Chike is expected to formally assume office on July 13, 2026.
