UNIZIK Condemns Lecturer Assault, Orders Investigation

The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), located in Awka, condemned the physical assault on a lecturer from the Department of Chinese Studies, which occurred on Saturday, August 15, 2026. This incident followed allegations of attempted sexual misconduct involving a female student.

Videos of the assault have circulated widely on social media. The university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, reaffirmed the institution's zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and harassment.

The management stressed that allegations must be addressed through established procedures and due process, prohibiting any form of vigilante justice. An immediate, comprehensive, and impartial investigation has been ordered to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.
