ASUU-UNIZIK Ends Strike After Full Salary Payment

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Branch, has officially suspended its strike action following the complete payment of its members’ August 2026 salaries. This decision takes effect immediately from Friday, September 11, 2026, as per a resolution reached during the branch congress on September 7, which initiated the strike due to the non-payment of the complete August salary.

The statement, signed by ASUU Branch Chairperson Innocent Nnubia and Secretary Osita Nnajiofor, directed all members to resume their academic and administrative duties, including teaching, lectures, supervision, marking, and committee meetings. The union commended its members for their unity and discipline during the strike, noting that their collective action led to a positive outcome.

Members were urged to remain vigilant and monitor developments, with official updates to be communicated through union platforms. The strike was activated in response to the delayed payment of salaries, and with the issue resolved, ASUU-UNIZIK has called for a return to normal duties.
