Tinubu Approves Major Highway Projects for South-East

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo revealed that President Bola Tinubu has approved the design and procurement for two significant highway projects intended to enhance infrastructure in the South-East region. This announcement followed a meeting held on July 1, 2023, with the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who was asked to submit details on previously discussed road projects.

The two proposed projects include a dualized 108-kilometer road linking Otuocha in Anambra State to Abaji in Kogi State and a 150-kilometer road connecting Oba in Nnewi to Uga and the Ihub Okigwe Junction road, which links Anambra, Imo, Enugu, and the Port Harcourt Expressway in Abia State. Soludo expressed excitement over this development, describing it as a historic move that would transform not only the South-East but also the South-South and North-Central regions.

He emphasized that this initiative is a critical step towards rebuilding the region's infrastructure and healing the wounds of the civil war.
