US Agency Enhances NDLEA with New Interrogation Rooms

On Monday, the United States agency officially handed over funded interrogation rooms to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abuja. This initiative is part of efforts to bolster Nigeria's fight against drug trafficking.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman, noted that the project was implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Cheikh Tour, the UNODC country representative, emphasized that Nigeria's strategic location has made it a target for international drug cartels.

Brig Gen Buba Marwa (retd), the NDLEA chairman and chief executive officer, highlighted the agency's strengthened enforcement capabilities since his appointment in 2021, which has led to significant drug seizures and a commitment to transparency and adherence to global best practices in criminal justice. The handover aligns with the NDLEA's push towards full digital transformation, ensuring improved investigative processes and better tools for law enforcement.
