US and UN Train NDLEA to Combat Drug Trafficking

The United States, in partnership with the United Nations, is conducting training for Nigeria's National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and counterparts from nine other West African countries to combat transnational drug trafficking. This initiative, disclosed by the US Mission in Nigeria on a Friday, aims to enhance the region's ability to confront drug cartels and protect communities.

The training program will cover various areas, including dismantling clandestine drug laboratories and improving investigative techniques. The US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime are key players in this initiative.

The ultimate goal is to strengthen the capacity of West African drug enforcement agencies to disrupt criminal networks and stop drug sources, thereby making the region safer and reducing the threat of drug trafficking to both American and African communities.
