US and Nigeria Launch Joint Military Training in Bauchi

US and Nigerian military personnel have commenced joint training exercises at Operating Location in Bauchi, Nigeria. The training encompasses a variety of skills, including emergency medical care and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

This initiative is part of a broader US-Nigeria security cooperation mission that involves combined training, advising, intelligence sharing, and professional exchanges. Army Capt. Gabriel Feingold, a logistics officer with the US Army Southern European Task Force, explained that the training topics are selected based on US expertise and Nigerian priorities.

Sgt. Mark Murphy, an intelligence analyst with the 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, led a UAS session that included classroom instruction and hands-on practice. Other training topics at Bauchi have included Combat Lifesaver courses, weapons familiarization, and small-unit tactics.

The training has reportedly improved interactions between US and Nigerian personnel, fostering relationships beyond formal duties. Additional training opportunities are being developed as both sides continue to identify areas for collaboration.
