US E-3 Work Visa Exclusively for Australian Nationals

The US government has announced that only citizens of Australia can apply for the E-3 work visa, a classification designed for foreign workers to occupy specialized professional roles in the United States. According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the E-3 visa is exclusively available to Australians, with no other nationalities qualifying.

To be eligible, applicants must be traveling to the US solely for work in a "speciality occupation," which requires both theoretical and practical application of a specialized body of knowledge. This occupation must necessitate at least a bachelor's degree or its recognized equivalent.

The definition of a speciality occupation for the E-3 visa aligns with that of the H-1B visa, but the key difference is that the H-1B is accessible to workers from multiple countries, whereas the E-3 is limited to Australians. The visa was established under a bilateral agreement between the US and Australia, providing a pathway for skilled Australian professionals to work in the US job market.
