U.S. Assistant Secretary Frank Garcia Visits Nigeria

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Frank Garcia, concluded his visit to Nigeria, where he met with senior Nigerian government officials in Abuja.

The discussions aimed to advance the U.S.-Nigeria strategic partnership, focusing on security cooperation, the protection of Christian communities, justice sector reform, and digital transformation. Garcia met with Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, Attorney General Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi, and Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani.

The meeting emphasized Nigeria's increased efforts in collaboration with the U.S. Joint Working Group (JWG) to address pressing concerns, including the protection of Christians and the safe return of internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Future meetings are planned, with the next JWG session scheduled for Washington, D.C., in August to assess progress. Garcia also engaged with U.S. energy technology executives to discuss business climate and investment opportunities in Nigeria's growing economy.
