African Countries Selected for 2026 US Green Card Lottery
The U.S. Department of State has published the list of African countries selected for the 2026 Diversity Visa (DV) Programme, commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery.
The Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky, registered approximately 129,516 prospective applicants, including selectees and their spouses and children, after a random draw from 20,822,624 qualified entries submitted between October 2 and November 7, 2024. The DV-2026 programme makes available around 51,850 permanent resident visas for the fiscal year 2026, which spans from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.
The list includes numerous African nations, with Algeria registering 5,457 applicants, followed by Egypt with 5,527 and Sudan with 5,226. To qualify, principal applicants must demonstrate proof of at least a high school education or two years of relevant work experience.
Selectees must secure their visas or adjusted status by September 30, 2026, or they will lose their selection benefits.
