Egypt and Saudi Arabia Urge De-escalation Amid Attacks

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry, represented by Badr Abdelatti, and Saudi Arabia, represented by Faisal Al Saud, have jointly called for de-escalation and the assurance of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following a series of attacks attributed to Iran. During a phone conversation, both ministers expressed the necessity of ensuring the safety and security of international shipping, warning that disruptions could have negative repercussions on global economic and energy security.

They condemned Iran's attacks targeting Gulf Arab states and urged for an immediate halt to escalating actions. The discussion included the role of a regional quartet comprising Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and the United States in addressing the tensions.

The recent Iranian attacks have raised concerns about maritime security and the safety of transit routes, particularly in light of U.S. military bases in neighboring countries.
