US Lawmaker Proposes Bill to Deport Terrorist Citizens

Rilei Moor, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, has proposed legislation titled the "Denaturalization and Expulsion of Persons Orchestrating Radical Terror Deport Act." This bill aims to allow U.S. authorities to denaturalize and deport naturalized citizens who commit acts of terrorism or provide support to terrorist organizations.

Moor's announcement follows the March 12 shooting incident at Old Dominion University in Virginia, where naturalized citizen Moham Jalloh, originally from Sierra Leone, opened fire, killing Army pilot Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah and injuring two students. Jalloh had previously been convicted in 2016 for providing material support to ISIS.

The proposed legislation seeks to address the challenges of revoking citizenship under current laws, which Moor argues are inadequate. The bill would extend the window for proving citizenship fraud related to terrorism from five to ten years and create a new pathway for denaturalizing individuals identified as "lone wolf" terrorists.
