US Mission Supports Team Nigeria for U20 Championships

The United States Mission in Nigeria has conveyed its support for Team Nigeria as the country prepares for the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, scheduled to take place from August 5–9, 2026, at Hayward Field, University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, USA. In a message posted on X, the mission wished the Nigerian athletes success, describing the championship as a significant opportunity for the next generation of Nigerian athletes to demonstrate their talent and determination.

The mission emphasized the importance of the event in reflecting the connections between Nigeria and the United States through sports and other cooperative areas. The 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, branded Oregon 26, is the 21st edition of this global championship, with over 1,700 athletes from nearly 200 countries expected to compete in various track and field events, including the mixed 4x400m relay.
