Team Nigeria Competes on Day 2 of U20 Championships

Team Nigeria will continue its participation at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon on Thursday, August 6. The day will feature Jessica Oji, who recently won a silver medal in the women’s shot put at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, competing in the women’s shot put qualification Group A at 6 p.m.

Precious Opinion will also begin his campaign in the men’s triple jump qualification Group A at 8 p.m. The Nigerian mixed 4x100m relay team is scheduled to compete in Round 1, Heat 3 at 8:43 p.m.

Jecinta Lawrence will participate in the women’s 400m, running in Heat 4 at 9:14 p.m., followed by Faith Ezechukwu in Heat 7 at 9:35 p.m. David Udoh will represent Nigeria in the men’s 400m, competing in Round 1, Heat 4 at 10:06 p.m.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) continues to support Nigeria’s young athletes as they prepare for future competitions, including the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
