US Offers $10M Reward for Iranian Cyber Official Yariab

The United States has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the location of Amir Yariab, a senior official of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Cyber-Electronic Command. The US Department of State's Rewards for Justice program made this announcement on Thursday.

Yariab is identified as the leader of the IRGC-CEC’s Cyber Operations Command, allegedly directing various components of the Iranian military organization. The US government accuses him of overseeing several organizations involved in cyber operations against critical infrastructure, including defense institutions and financial systems, affecting targets in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.

This announcement coincides with ongoing US prosecutions related to the Mabna Institute, where 17 members were charged for a coordinated cyber intrusion campaign affecting numerous universities and companies since 2013, resulting in the theft of over 31 terabytes of data.
