U.S. Offers $18M for Information on ISIS-K Leaders

The United States has offered rewards of up to $18 million for information leading to the identification or location of two key leaders of the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K). The U.S.

Department of State’s Rewards for Justice programme announced the offers on its X handle. Up to $8 million is offered for information on Shahab al-Muhajir, also known as Sanaullah Ghafari, who became the leader of ISIS-K in June 2020.

Ghafari, born in Afghanistan in 1994, is responsible for approving operations and arranging funding for the group. Additionally, up to $10 million is offered for information on Obaidullah, who assists in planning attacks, commands terrorist groups, and manages finances through the al-Siddiq Office.

Obaidullah is linked to multiple plots targeting U.S. and European interests and was involved in a March 2024 attack in Russia that killed 145 people. ISIS-K, which pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2015, conducts operations primarily in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
