U.S. Strengthens Agricultural Ties with Nigeria

The United States is advancing its partnership with Nigeria in livestock development and agricultural trade, aiming to expand trade and investment opportunities. This initiative was showcased during a four-day speaker program hosted by the U.S.

Mission to Nigeria from August 10 to 13, 2026, under the Freedom 250 initiative. U.S. livestock development expert Dr. Gregg BeVier engaged with Nigerian agribusiness leaders, policymakers, and government officials, focusing on how American agricultural technology and private-sector expertise could enhance livestock productivity.

BeVier spoke at the All-Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture in Abuja and collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development and the Livestock Reforms and Implementation Committee. He also participated in the U.S.-Nigeria Livestock and Feed Connect, a business engagement aimed at fostering partnerships.

The program is part of the flagship Commercial and Investment Partnership and builds on previous exchange initiatives, potentially leading to future opportunities in agricultural finance and trade. Dr. BeVier has over 37 years of experience and is currently the Chief Operating Officer of ST Genetics and Chief Executive Officer of Fast Genetics.
