US Soldiers, Civilian Interpreter Killed in Syria Ambush Attack by ISIS

Two American soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed in an ambush attack in central Syria by alleged ISIS members during a joint US-Syrian patrol. The attack, reported by US Central Command (CENTCOM), occurred in an area not controlled by the Syrian president.

This incident is the first of its kind since Islamist forces overthrew Bashar al Assad in 2014. Pentagon officials confirmed the attack but withheld the identities of the deceased soldiers until their families were notified.
