Trump Administration Targets 200,000 Visa Revocations

The administration of President Donald Trump is preparing to revoke the business and tourism visas of as many as 200,000 foreigners who have applied for or are currently seeking asylum in the United States. This initiative, coordinated by the US Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security, could represent the largest single mass visa revocation in U.S. history.

The focus is on holders of B1 and B2 non-immigrant visas issued between 2016 and 2026, who later filed for asylum. State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott confirmed that the department is working with DHS to identify these visa holders.

The administration argues that individuals who obtained temporary visas as short-term visitors but subsequently sought asylum may have violated the conditions of their visas. Although the exact number of visas to be revoked is dynamic, the planned review could affect many individuals.

Revocation of a B1 or B2 visa does not guarantee immediate deportation, as many asylum applications are still pending.
