Uzoigwe Miracle and Aremu Adejare Win Pius Oleghe Prize

Uzoigwe Miracle and Aremu Goodness Adejare have been declared winners of the maiden edition of the 2026 Pius Oleghe Poetry Prize, as announced by the Organising Committee of the Pius Oleghe Poetry and Literary Awards (POPALS). The competition, themed “Nigeria of Our Dreams,” showcased exceptional entries from across Nigeria and was adjudicated by an independent panel of distinguished judges.

Uzoigwe Miracle won in Category A – Young Voices (12–17 years) for exceptional creativity and poetic craftsmanship, while Aremu Goodness Adejare won in Category B – Emerging Poets (18–35 years) for an outstanding poem that engaged thoughtfully with the theme. The Organising Committee congratulated both winners and noted that shortlisted poems will be included in the inaugural Pius Oleghe Poetry Prize Anthology.

The award ceremony, organized by the National Association of Seadogs, took place in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, honoring the late Pius Oleghe.
