Apprentice Allegedly Kills Master Over Late Night Query

On Sunday morning, a 21-year-old apprentice named Chiemeri Aniek allegedly killed his master, Ikechukwu Nwite, in Onitsha, Anambra State. The incident stemmed from an argument after Nwite scolded Aniek for returning home late on Saturday night, Valentine's Day.

Reports indicate that Aniek attacked Nwite with a pestle, striking him on the head, which led to his death. A video circulating on social media shows the aftermath, with Nwite's body being taken to a mortuary.

Aniek's wife, Ogechukwu Nwite, was reportedly lucky to escape an attack and is currently hospitalized. The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident and stated that Aniek is in custody.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the altercation was provoked by Nwite's admonishment of Aniek's bad behavior, which included pilfering money meant for the shop. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a comprehensive investigation to ensure justice is served.
