Police Arrest Suspect in TCN Tower Vandalism Case

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the arrest of a principal suspect linked to the vandalism of six transmission towers along the Yola-Jalingo 330kV Transmission Line. This incident was discovered on July 29, 2026, during a routine patrol by TCN engineers, who found that critical bracing members had been stripped from towers T995, T998, T999, T1002, T1003, and T1004, with approximately 130 pieces of tower members stolen.

Following the discovery, TCN collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force on July 30, 2026, to conduct a joint raid in the affected community, engaging local leaders for assistance in identifying the perpetrators. A breakthrough occurred on August 1, 2026, when the police informed TCN of the suspect's apprehension and the recovery of part of the stolen materials.

TCN officials visited the recovery site to verify the materials and called for the full prosecution of the suspect to ensure justice is served. The police continue to pursue leads to apprehend remaining members of the criminal syndicate.
