Nigeria Women's Volleyball Team Defeats DR Congo 3-2

Nigeria's women's volleyball team achieved a remarkable comeback victory against the Democratic Republic of Congo, winning 3-2 in their 9th-12th classification match at the 2026 African Women’s Volleyball Championship held in Nairobi, Kenya. Head coach Elishama Elam commended the team's never-say-die spirit after they initially lost the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22.

The Nigerian team rallied to win the third set 25-21 and dominated the fourth set with a score of 25-13, leveling the match. In a tense final set, Nigeria edged DR Congo 15-13 to secure the victory.

Elam expressed his delight with the players' resilience, attributing the turnaround to determination and faith, and credited God for their success. He emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency as they prepare for their final classification match, stating they would give their all.

This victory boosts Nigeria's confidence ahead of their concluding game in the championship.
