Yobe Governor Buni Lauded for Implementing ASUU Agreement

Prof. Muhammad Bashir Tahir, the Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, commended Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni for approving the full implementation of the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). This approval includes the payment of outstanding arrears owed to academic staff, which is expected to boost staff morale and strengthen teaching and research across the state's tertiary institutions.

Tahir noted that this decision reflects the administration's commitment to the welfare of academic staff and the overall development of higher education in Yobe State. He emphasized that the implementation of the agreement will improve the welfare and working conditions of lecturers, contribute to the retention of experienced academics, and enhance the competitiveness of Yobe State University within Nigeria's university system.

The Vice Chancellor assured that the university management and staff remain committed to excelling in teaching, research, and community service, supporting the governor's vision for a globally competitive higher education system.
