ASUU Urges Government to Implement Agreements to Avoid Strikes

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on the federal and state governments to urgently implement agreements made with the union to avoid strikes that could disrupt academic activities in Nigerian universities. This appeal was made during a press conference held in Yola, where Comrade Dani Mamman, the zonal coordinator, expressed serious concerns over the deteriorating state of the Nigerian university system due to the government's failure to honor previous agreements.

Key issues raised included the non-implementation of the 2025 FG-ASUU negotiated agreement and the lack of attention given to the university system. Mamman emphasized that the union has engaged with relevant authorities multiple times without positive results.

He criticized the government's repeated disregard for collective bargaining principles and highlighted the need for serious commitment to the survival of public universities in the country.
