ATBU VC Urges New Students to Avoid Cultism and Drugs

During a recent matriculation ceremony at the Yelwa campus of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ibrahim Garba addressed 4,355 newly admitted students. He warned them against engaging in cultism, drug abuse, and examination malpractices, which he stated could ruin their futures.

Garba highlighted the breakdown of matriculation statistics across various faculties, including 231 in the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, 388 in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and 933 in the Faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology, among others. He described the challenges students might face, likening them to a storm, and urged them to reject negative influences.

Garba encouraged the students to familiarize themselves with the student handbook and adhere to university regulations to avoid sanctions. He also motivated them to pursue their studies diligently, utilize the university's resources, and strive for academic excellence as they embark on their educational journey.
