Niger SPC Urges CAF to Sustain Farmers' Gains Post-VCDP

Hajiya Hadizat Isah, the Niger State Programme Coordinator of the Federal Government/International Fund for Agricultural Development Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP), called on members of the Commodity Alliance Forum (CAF) to unite and sustain the achievements made under the program as it approaches its conclusion. Speaking in Minna during a meeting focused on market linkages and agreements between off-takers and farmers' organizations, Isah stressed that the end of VCDP should not signify the cessation of support for smallholder farmers.

She highlighted the importance of internal cooperation among CAF members before seeking external partnerships. Isah pointed out that regular meetings are essential for discussing challenges and fostering collaboration.

She also expressed concerns regarding the underutilization of processing and aggregation centers established through VCDP and urged CAF members to engage local government chairmen to enhance productivity. Furthermore, she advocated for the continuation of training received through VCDP to ensure the knowledge gained by beneficiaries is disseminated further.
